The committee which paid a working visit to the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to assess its preparedness, underscored its commitment to non-interference and offered support to ensure a successful electoral process
The chairman of the Committee, Honorable Emmanuel Akintunde, representing Lagelu State Constituency, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and non-interference in the election while expressing the Assembly’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance to OYSIEC to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
Honorable Akintunde commended the Commission’s apparent preparedness for the election.
In his remark, OYSIEC Chairman, Aare Isiaka Olagunju SAN, expressed gratitude for the Committee’s visit and reiterated the Commission’s commitment to conducting a free and fair election.
Olagunju who emphasized that only individuals with valid voter cards will be eligible to vote in the election, confirmed that all 19 political parties in the state have expressed interest in participating, although some are yet to submit the list
of their candidates.
OYSIEC urged the people of Oyo State to actively participate in the election by casting their votes on the designated date, while assuring the public that no party will be favored above the other in the conduct of the election.
