The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has been honoured with the Distinguished Local Government Chairmen Award (2025) by Rootswatch Magazine, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to rural integration and grassroots development.
The prestigious award was presented during the Rootswatch National Merit Awards Ceremony 2025, held at the National Merit House, Abuja, on Thursday, where distinguished leaders from across the nation were celebrated for excellence in governance and community service. In addition to the award plaque, Dr. GLORIOUS was also gifted a brand new car in appreciation of his exemplary leadership.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. GLORIOUS expressed profound gratitude to the organizers of the award and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to people-oriented governance.
“This award is a testament to our focus on sustainable rural integration and inclusive development in Ona Ara. I sincerely thank Rootswatch Magazine for this recognition,” he said.
The Ona Ara Chairman dedicated the award to his mentor and inspiration, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as: “My role model, the man of the moment, and our political irrepressible generalissimo.”
He also extended the honour to the entire leadership and faithful of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, as well as the resilient people of Ona Ara Local Government who, according to him, remain the reason behind his continued drive for progress.
Dr. GLORIOUS’ administration has garnered acclaim for transformative projects in education, rural infrastructure, healthcare, and community empowerment — all anchored on the “New Era” agenda inspired by Governor Makinde’s developmental blueprint for Oyo State.
