The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Akinloye Owolabi Ige-Olakulehin I, will on Friday, 9 May 2025, install Oloye Abiola Iyiola (Mogaji Anlamọlẹ) as the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The installation ceremony will take place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
The Bada chieftaincy title is one of the key traditional positions in the Ibadan hierarchy. Historically, the Bada served as the Olubadan’s chief intelligence officer responsible for gathering sensitive information and reporting happenings across the city.

The title gained prominence after the Gbanamu War of 1833, as the role became essential to the security and governance of the Ibadan kingdom.

Speaking ahead of the installation, Oloye Iyiola described the Ibadan chieftaincy system as a product of the wisdom of the city’s founding fathers. He noted that each traditional title has defined responsibilities, contributing to the strength and structure of the ancient city.

“As I take over this office, I again promise to continue to be a model chief, who upholds the bright elegance of the Ibadan people, and continue to be of service to my King, and the nation in general,” he said.
