Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Her Excellency, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, on Saturday, commended the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/SouthEast federal constituency Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), for the continuous empowerment initiatives facilitated to better the lives of his constituents in Ibadan.

She gave the commendation at the closing ceremony of an empowerment training programme organised by the lawmaker where over hundred women and youths were trained on how to produce soap, disinfectant and liquid bleach.
At the event which held at Apex Hall, Idi-Ape, Agodi Gate, Ibadan, beneficiaries were also given start-up equipment including industrial burners, cylinders, mixer machine worth N350,000 to each participant and fifty thousand naira (50,000) cash support to start up their businesses.

Additionally, one hundred physically challenged persons were also given mobility-adapted tricycles to ease their mobility and enable them to carry out their daily activities with ease.

The First Lady used the opportunity of the event to call on other stakeholders to emulate Rep. Agboworin by investing in capacity-building initiatives that will be economically beneficial to the citizens of Oyo State.

“I thank you my brother, Agboworin, for touching the lives of the people. When we did something like this in 2023, people were not as much as this. But today, I can see much people in here. I appreciate you for doing this. You are indeed touching lives.
“You are dedicated and committed to empower the people of your Constituency with the rightful skill acquisitions. Instead of killing fish for his people, he always trains them how to kill fish by themselves, and this is a very good idea.
“He has been empowering them with the skills and knowledge so they too can stand on their own. So, this is a very good initiative, and I really commend him for bringing dividend of democracy to the people of his constituency.
“I am glad that Honorable Agboworin always prioritizes women in his empowerment initiatives. Today, after one-day training, the beneficiaries, upon their graduation, would be presented with certificates, start up kits and cash of fifty thousand naira (N50,000) each to start their businesses.
“I believe this would go a long way in addressing economic hardship in our country as the beneficiaries are expected to make good use of their training, their start-up kits, and the money given to them judiciously,” She stated.
Similarly, the lawmaker admonished the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment given to them, but rather use them for the purpose they were given so that they can be economically self-sufficient.
Concluding, he urged the beneficiaries and other participants to continue to support the administration of the current governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a whole.
