The serene community of Ikolaba was filled with emotion and reverence on Tuesday as family members, religious leaders, political dignitaries, and residents of Ibadan North gathered in large numbers for the 8th-day Fidau prayer of the late Chief Imam of Ikolaba Central Mosque, Sheikh Tirimiyu Badmus Adio of the Badieku family. The respected cleric passed on to glory on the 8th of April, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, humility, and selfless service to Islam and the community.

The solemn event, which held at Ward 5 in the Ibadan North Local Government Area, drew a mammoth crowd, including Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, and political stakeholders who came together to honour the life and spiritual leadership of the late Imam.
In a heartwarming show of support, the Honourable Member representing Ibadan North Constituency I at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade—ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Mustapha Hamid—extended a generous donation of one million naira to the bereaved family and the Ikolaba Central Mosque.

Out of the total donation, six hundred thousand naira was given directly to the wife and children of the late Imam to assist with immediate family needs and ongoing welfare. The remaining four hundred thousand naira was presented to the mosque committee to support the organization of the Fidau prayer and other religious rites in honour of the deceased.

In her remarks, Hon. Comforter described Sheikh Tirimiyu as “a spiritual pillar and a father figure whose teachings and calm disposition inspired generations.” She also praised his dedication to peace and community building, urging young clerics to emulate his commitment to both faith and service.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mustapha Hamid reaffirmed the local government’s continued support for religious institutions and the families of revered leaders who have contributed to the moral and spiritual growth of the community. “Our chairman, Hon. Seun Olufade, deeply respects the contributions of religious leaders like Imam Tirimiyu. This support is just a token of appreciation for a life well spent in service to Allah and humanity,” he said.
The atmosphere was one of gratitude and reflection as prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the late Imam’s soul, and the event closed with words of thanks from the family and the mosque leadership, who appreciated the thoughtful gesture of the government and all attendees.
Sheikh Tirimiyu Badmus Adio will be remembered not just as a cleric, but as a beacon of wisdom and a voice of conscience whose impact will resonate for years to come.
May Allah reward Alhaji. Tirimisiyu with Al-Jana Fridaous. Amin
