“Peace transcends the mere absence of war; it is a dynamic state of being that encompasses justice, equality, and mutual understanding. It is an environment where harmony, forgiveness, and compassion thrive, nurturing a culture that prioritizes human dignity, life, and well-being.”

Governor Seyi Makinde ‘s administration has brought a new era of peace and security to Oyo State, transforming the state into a haven where citizens can live, work, and thrive without fear. Through his visionary leadership and proactive security initiatives, Governor Makinde has successfully tackled the security challenges that once plagued the state, restoring confidence and stability among residents and investors alike.

Oyo State has made significant strides in enhancing security management, thanks to Governor Seyi Makinde’s forward-thinking initiatives. His administration’s concerted efforts to safeguard citizens and ensure their security have played a crucial role in creating an environment that fosters economic growth and attracts investment.

Governor Makinde’s strategic move to appoint another retired Commissioner of Police into the mainstream of governance brings the total number of retired CPs overseeing security and enforcement operations to three with the recent appointment of CP Ayodele Sonubi (retd) as Executive Adviser (Rule of Law Enforcement).

This decision leverages their vast experience and expertise in law enforcement to enhance the state’s security framework. The Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, was operationalized with 1,500 members deployed across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State. The corps received over 500 operational vehicles to facilitate their operations.

The Oyo State Government expanded and upgraded the Security Control Room and City Watch facilities at the Oyo State Security Trust Fund Headquarters, Onireke, Jericho, Ibadan. Furthermore, the government provided operational vehicles, walkie-talkies, steel helmets, bulletproof jackets, combat boots, and other security equipment to support security agencies.

Effective security is crucial for several reasons. A robust security framework enhances local and foreign business investments, leading to job creation and economic development. Prioritizing security creates a safe environment where individuals can live without fear of crime or violence.

Enhanced security measures contribute to the safety of late-night travel, stimulating local economies through activities like shopping, dining, and socializing. A secure environment fosters business growth, economic activities, and overall prosperity.

Reno Omokri recently, highlighted Governor Makinde’s actions as a model for leaders, demonstrating that equitable treatment and inclusive governance can bridge divides and foster unity among diverse communities. The appointment of retired CPs, who bring impartiality and professionalism to the security landscape, exemplifies this principle.

Good security in Oyo State has a profoundly positive impact on the state’s development, boosting economic growth by attracting investors and businesses. It also ensures the safety and well-being of citizens, promoting a sense of calm and stability, and fosters a conducive environment for education, healthcare, and social activities.

Additionally, good security enhances the state’s reputation, making it an attractive destination for residents, businesses, and visitors, and stimulates local economies through increased tourism and commercial activities.

A safer Oyo State, thanks to Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to security, has numerous advantages, including improved economic growth, enhanced tourism, increased public confidence, reduced crime rates, better quality of life, and increased investment in education and healthcare. This, in turn, boosts the economy, enhances the state’s reputation, and improves the lives of citizens.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s initiatives in enhancing security in Oyo State are commendable, reflecting a commitment to creating a safe and conducive environment for all citizens. By prioritizing security, his administration is laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth, improved quality of life, and a more unified society.
