Association of LG Chairmen In Oyo Congratulates Oba Owoade As 45th Alaafin

Chairmen of Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Oyo State
have congratulated the new Alaafin
of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Oba
Abimbola Owoade, as he received a certificate and staff of office.

Recall that Oba Owoade was announced on Friday by the state government as the Alaafin-elect to succeed the 45th Alaafin Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who passed on two years ago.

The new Alaafin received a certificate and staff of office from the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday at the Agodi Government House in Ibadan, the state capital

As contained in a communiqué signed by the Association of Oyo local government’s Public Relations Officer, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the council bosses expressed their conviction that Oba Owoade is the one fit for the throne at this time.

The Council chairmen said their conviction was based on the fact that Oyo town, as a strategically self-regulated ancient Yoruba city, requires in its sequence, successive royal leadership to keep its tempo of growth and development.

applauded Governor Makinde for his respect for traditional institutions, having won the heart of the Oyo people with a decision that is devoid of doubt as traditions demand.

The Council chairmen, led by Hon. Sikiru Sanda, therefore, prayed to God to grant the new Alaafin a healthy and very impactful reign on the throne of the forefathers. The Chairmen also urged all sons and daughters of ancient Oyo town, people of Oyo state and Yorubaland to support the new Alaafin as he begins to promote and uphold the norms and value of Yoruba culture.

“All the 33 local government chairmen in Oyo state wish to felicitate with His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade on his installation as 46th Alaafin Oyo, which is a victory for all Oyo town sons and daughters as well as all the residents of the ancient city.

“ We do not doubt that the new Alaafin has impeccable and unblemished records as a businessman and administrator, his pedigree and international experience will help him excel in the royal and traditional duties.

“ We pray to Almighty God to grant our new Alaafin a very long and peaceful reign “
