The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo, has announced a ban on all forms of carnivals within the local government area unless officially authorized by the Nigeria Police.
This decision follows resolutions passed at the recent Peace and Security Committee Meeting for 2024.
Dr. Kolapo also issued a strong warning against illegal gatherings, the use of fireworks, and bush burning, which have recently become alarming and disruptive.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts by security operatives, both from government agencies and non-state actors, alongside other key stakeholders, to prevent criminal activities.
These measures aim to ensure peaceful coexistence and enable joyous Christmas and New Year celebrations across Ona Ara Local Government communities.
The Council Chairman declared a zero-tolerance policy for indiscriminate and illegal dumping of refuse in the Olorunsogo and Oke Elesin areas.
He affirmed that offenders apprehended by the Environmental Task Force will face strict sanctions in line with the environmental laws of Nigeria and Oyo State.
Dr. Kolapo further called on parents, community leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to caution their wards and community members against engaging in any criminal activities that could disrupt the peace, orderliness, and tranquility in Ona Ara and its surrounding areas.
