The shop owners and marketers at Iso Adie Market have been urged to prioritize their safety and desist from any acts that could lead to fire outbreak which can destroy their means of livelihood within the market and its environs.

This advice was made by the Political Head Administrator of Ibadan South Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ogundeji Teslim during the enlightenment campaign program on the causes and prevention of the fire outbreak in this period of harmattan held at the premises of the Market, Molete, Ibadan.

According to the council boss, the issue of safety must not left for the government alone, everybody must involve, we must change our non chalant attitude towards government properties by putting some measures that are needed in place for the safety of lives and properties.

In their keynote address, the two resourceful guest speakers at the program, Mr Waheed sunmola, chief fire superintendent officer, from Oyo state fire station and her assistant agreed that the major causes of fire outbreak were born out of people ignorance, carelessness and non chalant attitude towards handling and managing the combustible materials that are capable to caught fire.

They highlighted some of the causes of fire outbreak like illegal hoarding of petrol, misused of gas cylinders, electrical upsurge, candle and other fire explosive among many other things that can cause fire outbreak. They maintained that all these can be averted if they could be carefully handled and controlled. They implored the market management make a fire extinguisher available in their premises.

In her Goodwill Message, the secretary to the local government,Mrs. Bose Akande appealed to the marketers to shun any activities that may cause crisis in the market and ensured that peace reigns always.
