The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has charged primary school teachers and local government staff retirees to spend their gratuity wisely.
Hon Akeem Ademola Ige gave the charge during the payment of gratuity to another batch of retirees and death benefits to next of kins of deceased retirees in Oke Ogun and Ibarapa zones.
In his keynote address, the chairman of the Board said ” Engr Seyi Makinde has been consistent in the payment of gratuity and other welfare packages for pensioners and workers in the pacesetter state. Noting that pensioners never had it so good before the present governor came on board and therefore solicited for the support and cooperation of all retirees to the PDP led government in Oyo State under the able leadership of Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.
Hon Ige also said “the governor approved the sum of One Billion, Six Hundred and Fifty Million Naira for this payment exercise which we began in Ibadan City Zone on Monday while that of Oyo and Ogbomoso beneficiaries zones were paid yesterday, ”
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina represented by the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr Kehinde Fasola said the beneficiaries of the payment exercise comprising both primary school teachers and local government retirees have been enjoying more dividends of democracy regularly in terms of their welfare unlike during the previous administrations. He therefore enjoined them to be praying for the present government in Oyo state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Hon Rasaq Bisi Fadiran also commended the state governor, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for always putting smiles on the faces of all and sundry especially the pensioners. He then advised the beneficiaries not to squander their gratuity lavishly but instead engage in profitable and worthwhile business.
In their words of advice to the beneficiaries , the State Chairman, NUP, retired primary school teachers wing, Com Dosu Akinpelu and State Vice Chairman, retired local government staff wing Alhaji Muniru Adesope implored the beneficiaries to take proper care of their health and warned them to be careful in order not to fall victim of fraudsters that may disguise like good people.
The beneficiaries in Oke Ogun and Ibarapa zones also thanked the governor for paying their gratuity.
