The Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Beautician/Hairdressers Association (NBHA) hosted a vibrant and impactful Asewa Oge Day on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, as part of its 2024 Hair and Body Exhibition. The event, a key component of a three-day exhibition aimed at raising funds for the Asewa House building project, brought together key figures from the beauty industry, government, and the corporate sector to support a noble cause.

The Asewa Oge Day, marking the second day of the three-day exhibition, was dedicated to celebrating the artistry and creativity of Nigerian beauticians and hairdressers. The event featured a blend of beauty exhibitions, live demonstrations, and heartfelt speeches, all geared toward raising awareness and funds for the development of Asewa House, a proposed hub for beauty professionals in the region.

The event began with an inspiring opening speech by Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Oladapo, President of the NBHA Oyo State Chapter. In her address, Chief Oladapo expressed her gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, and partners for their continued support of the association’s initiatives. She emphasized that the exhibition was not just a platform for showcasing beauty talent, but also an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the community by supporting the construction of Asewa House, a center that would empower local beauty professionals and foster economic growth in Oyo State.

The Asewa Oge Day saw the presence of prominent dignitaries who delivered powerful goodwill messages in support of the NBHA’s mission. Chief Benedict Akika, the Grand Life Patron of the NBHA Oyo State Chapter, praised the association for its continued dedication to improving the beauty industry and supporting community development. Akika stressed the importance of such initiatives, calling for greater collaboration to ensure the success of the Asewa House project.

Chief Ademola Ige, Life Patron of the NBHA and Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Pensions Board, also addressed the gathering, sharing his deep admiration for the association’s vision and his relationship of 25years with the association. Ige highlighted the pivotal role that beauty professionals play in the economy and in empowering women, urging everyone to continue supporting the project and its long-term goals.

Another highlight of the day was the speech delivered by Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Adesanya, the Founder of the NBHA Oyo State Chapter. Chief Adesanya shared her journey in building the association and reflected on the collective efforts of its members to uplift the beauty profession in Oyo State. Her speech was filled with passion and gratitude, emphasizing the positive changes the NBHA has brought to the industry and the potential impact of the Asewa House project in transforming the lives of beauty professionals in the region.

The day’s activities were expertly guided by Oyo State Chairman of Bureau for Internal Revenue, Mr. Femi Awakan, Chairman of the Day, who ensured a seamless flow of events and engaged attendees with his insightful commentary. Awakan, a respected leader in the beauty industry, shared valuable thoughts on the future of the beauty and wellness sectors in Nigeria. His leadership and expertise contributed greatly to the success of the day.

One of the most remarkable moments of the day came when Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, the Chairman of Solutions 93.9 FM Ibadan, made a significant donation of 2 million Naira to support the construction of Asewa House. Adegoke’s gesture was met with applause and was a testament to the power of corporate social responsibility. His donation was a clear signal of the growing support for the project, and it inspired other attendees to consider how they, too, could contribute to this important cause.

With the success of Asewa Oge Day, all eyes are now on the grand finale of the exhibition on Thursday, December 5. The final day promises to showcase even more beauty innovations, feature additional fundraising activities, and celebrate the ongoing efforts of the NBHA Oyo State Chapter to empower beauty professionals in the region. The exhibition is expected to draw even larger crowds, as the momentum from the first two days continues to build.

With the support of key figures like Chief Benedict Akika, Chief Ademola Ige, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, and the NBHA members across the 33 local governments of Oyo State is one step closer to realizing its vision of creating a central hub for beauty professionals in Oyo State.

As the 2024 Hair and Body Exhibition continues, the collective efforts of the NBHA and its partners are sure to have a lasting impact on the beauty industry, empowering individuals and fostering economic development in the state.
