Residents of Alatare, Balogun, and neighboring communities have commended the Executive Chairman of Ido local government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, for his quick response to their distressed call over the eroded bridge at ward four of the local government.

The bridge that links Alatare, Balogun, Aloko, Oteru, and Adeosun communities in the Awotan area of the Ido local government reportedly flooded due to heavy rain, which now hinders the movement of commuters and residents.

The residents were unable to hide their joy over the local government chairman’s quick response to the urgent needs of the people living in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Dr. Oyinka said the bridge in question links various communities, among which are Alatare, Balogun, Aloko, Oteru, Adeosun, and a host of others under Awotan in Ward Four; he added that the council continues to justify the leadership position he is occupying.

He said the chairman has demonstrated to the people of the local government that he has a listening ear and is a good ambassador of Governor Seyi Makinde with prompt response to just a video clip sent to him via WhatsApp.

“The community is happy to see the proactive steps taken by the chairman with the offloading of a truck of rubble stones to start the reconstruction of the bridge in less than 24 hours of the call”.

Dr. Oyinka then appealed on behalf of the concerned communities to the local government to expedite action on the project to ease the movement of the people of the areas affected.

During the inspection to ascertain the level of damage done by the flood, the Local Government supervisor for works, Hon. Adedamola Tolulope Olajide assured the people of the area that the local government had perfected a plan to put a temporary measure in place hence the offloading of the hardcore for the pedestrians and cyclists pending the commencement of the reconstruction work.

In his separate response, the Chief of Staff to the local government, Hon. AbdulAzeez Yahaya said the chairman was touched seeing the video clips of the damaged bridge and set necessary machinery in motion by calling on the super for works, councilor representing ward four, Hon. Jamiu Tijani and himself to allay the fears of the people of the area and assure them of the readiness of the local government to start the reconstruction job soon.
