Friends, I am inextricably linked to the diverse angles of humanity. Think of any! The narratives of my source, my life, my upbringing, my journey thus far is of many phases, and with the young and the elderly, the gifted and the struggling, – and that has afforded me the opportunity to have experience and the privilege of conscious learning.

My beginnings wasn’t so rosy, I have had a fair share of adversity, and I think that truly imbued me with a profound understanding of the many human conditions and how it really feels like. I am never shy or embarrassed to share this story, as a fact, I have shared it with many, especially the young, and I remain willing to share it again, because I understand that in the shared experiences of our journey and collective humanity lies the power of reflection and building of consciousness to drive change and empowerment.

My past of trials and tribulations has taught me the lessons of scarcity. I have known the gnawing pangs of hunger, the weighty uncertainty of tomorrow, and the relentless struggle to eke out a meager existence. And yet, I firmly believe that humanity yearns for more than the mere sustenance of life. We crave purpose, we seek growth, and we strive for the freedom to explore the vast expanse of our potential. The basics of life; food, clothing and shelter are but the foundation upon which we build our lives. I think you will agree with me that they are necessary but insufficient conditions for a life of meaning and fulfillment.

Our world, Nigeria, Oyo State is a vast and complex landscape, and with reflections, a lot can be achieved when we rethink our approach to governance and prioritise the well-being of our collective humanity. We possess an abundance of natural and human resources, sufficient to challenge the most daunting challenges of our time. You reading this is one. We can conquer the seemingly insurmountable, but it requires a fundamental transformation of our individual and collective priorities. We must sincerely recognise that our world is a shared inheritance, it remains a trust that we hold for future generations.

I have had the privilege of working for and with individuals, corporate organisations, and nations in my little years of coming up. And in this journey, I have discovered the resilience, creativity, and brilliance of the human spirit. The young people of today, in particular, embody the intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial drive, and innovative prowess that will shape the future of our country, especially Oyo state. I got more convinced at a recent Tech Expo in Ibadan, I witnessed firsthand how the boundaries of possibility were pushed by young people, and the potential of our collective future was unveiled. That gives some sense of pride and relief. But it is not enough.

Good governance is often considered an elusive ideal, but it is not an enigma. Its metrics are clear: the ability of individuals to afford the basics, to live with dignity, and to pursue their dreams. When these conditions are met, intellectual freedom and collective progress will flourish. This is not alchemy; it is the fundamental responsibility of governance.

Each of you reading this is a force, not a tool, you can drive our community toward growth, prosperity, and the realisation of our shared humanity. I believe so strongly in you, and together, we can transform knowledge, strength, and our collective aspiration into a powerful catalyst for change. We can build a world that accommodates every individual and gives the opportunity to thrive, to contribute, and to leave a footprint upon our shared existence.

When I engage with young people, I see reflections of myself – articulate, vibrant, hopeful, eager and positively-desperate. In the conversations we share, the experiences, and aspirations, I believe our collective energy can spark something serious and advance meaningful reforms. We can bridge the chasm between the ideal and the real, between the possible and the actual.

I offer my deepest respect to all classes of leaders, and genuinely acknowledge the weighty responsibility that rests upon your shoulders. Yet, I firmly believe that we can do more to empower ourselves, to unlock the potential that lies within and among us. Let us sustain these conversations, and focus more on a path of change and doing things differently. It is imperative for us to identify that leadership is not the sole preserve of the few but the collective responsibility of all.

My name is Amofin Beulah ADEOYE, and I believe we have a uniform vision for our Pace Setter State.
