The member of House of Representatives representing Ibadan South East/NorthEast federal constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has called on the government at all levels to strengthen institutions and promote economic diversification to move the country forward.

The lawmaker noted that Nigeria is at a critical juncture in its history and, to move forward, strengthening institutions and promoting economic diversification are crucial.

Agboworin, who is a two-term lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, gave this urge, on Tuesday, while congratulating Nigerians on the 64th Independence Anniversary through a statement signed by his Media Group and made available to journalists.

He added that encouraging sustainable agriculture and private sector investment can play a significant role in diversifying the economy and reducing poverty in the nation.

According to him, Nigeria has the potential to become a leading economic powerhouse in Africa, due to its dynamic energy and the unyielding spirit of its people, adding that it is essential to alleviate their effects through initiatives that enhance access to basic services, improve citizens’ quality of life, generate employment, and increase investments in areas like education and healthcare.

Agboworin, while maintaining that strengthening institutions requires good governance, transparency, and accountability, he quipped that Nigeria can overcome its current challenges and achieve sustainable economic growth and development.
