Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, has expressed strong commendation for Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts in upgrading Ibadan Airport to international standards. The significant development was viewed by the council boss as a major step forward in enhancing the state’s economic landscape.
In a new statement released by his office on Friday, Chairman Kamorudeen described the airport upgrade as a transformative initiative that promises to elevate Ibadan’s status as a vital transportation hub in Nigeria. “The modernization of Ibadan Airport is not just about infrastructure; it symbolizes progress and opportunity for the people of Oyo State,” he remarked.
The council chairman noted that the advancements likely to be brought about by the upgrade plan will attract more airlines to the region, and as a result boosts the state’s potentials for tourism, and fosters economic growth.
“This upgrade plan will, beyond doubt, enhance connectivity— making it easier for businesses to operate across borders and for tourists to explore our rich cultural heritage,” he said. He emphasized the potential for job creation in various sectors, from aviation to hospitality, as increased air traffic will stimulate local economies.
The chairman also praised the collaborative efforts between the state government and federal agencies, calling for continued support for infrastructure projects that benefits the populace. “We must ensure that such developments are sustained and expanded to meet the needs of our growing population,” he added.
