As the world celebrates this year’s International Youth Day (IYD), The Honourable Member Representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon (Dr) OLUFUNKE COMFORTER ADENIYI-OLAJIDE has called on the youth to invest in education and training that focuses on ICT/Media skills as the Theme of this Year’s YOUTH DAY is: “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”
The International Youth Day is commemorated August 12 annually to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.
The Lawmaker who noted that by acquiring ICT skills, the youths could contribute to finding innovative solutions to the pressing challenges confronting the Media/Tech World.
The legislator, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, stressed that the ICT highlights the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to build a more technologically conscious and sustainable world.
“As leaders of today and tomorrow, you have the power to make an astute in the way the planet earth is going, towards technology. It is now more important than ever before to invest in education and training that focuses on IT Skills.”
She tasked the youth to ensure that they aren’t left behind in the new train of wealth, which of course, the world is tilting toward – Technology.
“I encourage you to take charge of your own learning and seek out opportunities that allow you to develop these essential ICT skills. Embrace ICT as a way of life and incorporate these practices into your daily routines.
Hon Comforter, however, acknowledged that the journey to a world where Information Technology thrives does not rest solely on the youth’s shoulders. She advocates for collective action for achieving lasting change.
