In commemoration of International Youth Day 2024, the founder of Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF), Chief Benedict Akika has urged young people to harness the power of digital technology to drive sustainable development.

Speaking on the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” Akika emphasized the critical role of digital literacy and innovation in shaping the future of humanity.

“The digital era presents unprecedented opportunities for young people to create, innovate, and solve real-world problems,” Akika said. “I challenge you to move beyond mere clicks and likes on social media and leverage digital pathways to drive meaningful progress.”

He encouraged the youth to develop digital skills, embrace online learning, and utilize digital platforms to promote sustainable development, social justice, and environmental conservation.

International Youth Day is celebrated annually on August 12 to recognize the potential and contributions of young people worldwide. This year’s theme highlights the importance of digital pathways in achieving sustainable development and creating a better future for all.
