2027: Ogundoyin’s governorship bid gains fresh momentum as Ido/Ibarapa East PDP pledge support 

The governorship ambition of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, received a significant boost on Monday as stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency declared their support for his 2027 bid.

The strategic meeting, held in Ido Local Government Area, brought together party leaders, elders, and stakeholders from Ido and Ibarapa East Local Governments to deliberate on critical issues affecting the party and map out strategies ahead of the next general elections.

At the end of deliberations, the stakeholders unanimously endorsed the Speaker’s governorship aspiration, describing him as a capable and experienced leader with the capacity to lead Oyo State to greater heights in 2027 and beyond.

They pledged their full support and commitment to mobilising party members across the Federal Constituency in favour of his candidacy.

In his address, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election to the party faithful in the federal constituency, stating that his decision was driven by a sense of duty and a desire to deepen good governance, promote inclusivity, and sustain developmental strides across the state.

His declaration was greeted with overwhelming approval from party faithful at the meeting.

Prominent PDP stakeholders from Ido Local Government who attended the meeting include Mallam Yusuf Muili, Alhaji Akinsola Ayuba, Alhaji Kamarudeen Aderibigbe, Hon. Akano Mathew Kayode, Baba Isau Alabanla, Hon. Rasak Mabaje, the Chairman, Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, Barr. Olayemi Olusina, Alhaji Musibau Emiola, Commodore Rasak Babalola, Alhaji Diekola (Abule), Pastor S.A. Akintokun, and Alhaji Simiyu Laani.

Similarly, stakeholders from Ibarapa East Local Government present at the Federal Constituency meeting include Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Prince Abiodun Olabiyi; Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Hon. Adewuyi Ojoawo, Hon. Dimeji Oladapo, Chief Kamorudeen Adeyemi, Mrs. Yetunde Adebisi, Barr. Sunday Adekanbi, Alh. Ganiyu Aderibigbe, Prince Wole Opadeye, Ibarapa East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, Chief Sunday Abegunde, Aremo John Adeleke, and Hon. Gbenga Obalowo.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by party stakeholders to foster unity within the PDP and work collectively towards ensuring electoral victory for the party in 2027.
