*2027: My Next Political Move Is In The Hand Of God And My Principal – Agboworin*
House of Representatives member who represents Ibadan North East/South East, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has stated that his next political move is in the hands of Almighty God and his principal, who is the governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde.
Agboworin, who chairs the House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, made this revelation on Saturday while speaking on a popular radio station in Ibadan, Fresh FM, on a programme titled: ‘Political Circuit’ anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown.
He was responding to a question bothering on whether or not he would accept returning to office for third term in office if given the opportunity to continue.
The lawmaker also noted that judging from his achievements and interventions in the area of execution of physical projects, youth empowerment, women empowerment and others, it will be difficult for any politician to beat his record.
He said: “I want to say that everything is in the hands of God. And when it comes to my political career, I believe only in two factors; one is my God and the second is my Principal, who is the governor of the state. He is my leader.
“I am saying it loud and clear here today, that my political career is in the hand of the Almighty God and the governor. It is as simple as that. If the governor wants me to go a particular way, I will take definitely do so. And if he says otherwise, I will abide by his decision and do whatever he asks me to do.
“Having said that, I make bold to say that I have done enough to the extent that it will be very difficult for any other politician to beat my record as far as my achievements and interventions are concerned in my constituency.”
Speaking further on essence of continuity in office, he said the more parliamentarians stay in office, the higher the chance they get to make connections and seek alignment to facilitate projects for the benefits of their constituents.
“One thing I need to say is that, as a lawmaker, if you stay for a long time in office, you have brighter chance to get things done for your constituents than somebody who is a fresher or who has not got enough experience of how things work.
“If I did not return for second term, would I have known the Chairman, Committee on Appropriation, whom I have been meeting to facilitate a big project for my constituency? We have done a lot of things during Omituntun 1.0 and we will continue to do more, going forward.
“There are three major things that my people want and mostly request for, which are light, borehole water and gate. That is why you will see these three things in my constituency. The light-up project will still be done in many communities. A lot of community gates too will be fixed because it will address the issue of insecurity. So, rest assured the projects we are planning to do would outnumber the ones we have done in the past.
“Let me tell you, I am a striker in Abuja. I don’t just sit down but lobby for things for my people to give them what they need that will impact their lives directly. So, that is what I stand for.”
Agboworin, however, assured that he would continue to do what he is known for in the area of trainings and empowerments, with a view to supporting the vision of the governor at the state level.
