In a strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections, prominent PDP chieftain Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, popularly known as “Ige Again,” has formally declared his intention to contest for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat.

During a high-level consultation with the apex leaders of the PDP in Ibadan North Local Government, Ige emphasized the need for equity within the district.
He pointed out that since 1999, Ibadan South East Local Government remains the only area among the five Ibadan-based LGAs that has yet to produce a Senator.

“I am here to solicit your support. My ambition is rooted in service, not desperation. I will abide by the party’s ultimate decision,” Ige stated.

The meeting was attended by influential power brokers in Ibadan North local government including their apex chairman, Chief Ismaila Asipa, Hon. Kazeem Adeyinka Bibire (Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor), Hon. Seun Olufade (Executive Chairman, Ibadan North LG), Hon. Demola Omotosho (Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation), Prince Adebowale Falana, Chairman Agency for Youth Development and the party chairman,Com. Ademuyiwa Mustapha.

Responding to the declaration, Chief Asipa Hon.Yinka Bibire, Hon. Seun Olufade and Hon. Demola Omotosho lauded Ige as a “consummate politician and a true Omoluabi.” They acknowledged his vast experience and qualifications, assuring him of their support should he clinch the party’s ticket.

They alluded to the fact that Ige had used his various positions to impact humanity especially the youths he had assisted to be gainfully employed at the state and national level, while thousands of retirees have been assisted to get their retired benefits that the previous administrations had denied them before Governor Makinde came on board.
Ige was accompanied by a robust delegation from Ibadan South East, including Party Chairman Com. Olajide Oluwole JP, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Demola Oladosu, Engr. Sulaiman Adesina (World Best), Hon. Tope Yusuf and others.
Before now, Ige had met with the home base leaders and party structure including all the working committee in all the wards in Ibadan South East led by the Chairman Hon. Oluwole Olajide and equally consulted the national leaders of the party, Amb.Taofeek Arapaja and Hon. Dare Adeleke to seek their blessings for his ambition.

The visit marks a significant step in Ige’s quest to represent Oyo South, framing his bid as a mission to bring “fair representation” to his home constituency while maintaining unwavering loyalty to the people of Oyo South senatorial district.
