The political atmosphere in Egbeda Local Government received a significant boost as the Vice Chairman of the council and Political Head/Administrator of Ajorosun LCDA, Ibrahim Oladebo Simple, formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government in the forthcoming Oyo State Local Government elections.
Oladebo Simple made the declaration during a strategic visit to the Egbeda Local Government executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party secretariat, where he was warmly received by the party leadership led by Olawale Ebenezer Alawe.
Addressing the party executives and stakeholders, Oladebo Simple expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement he has received from party leaders, members, and grassroots supporters across the local government.
He officially announced his decision to contest the chairmanship seat in the forthcoming council election, stating that his ambition is driven by a desire to consolidate the developmental strides recorded in Egbeda under the current administration.
According to him, his aspiration is rooted in service and continuity of good governance.
“As a committed servant of the people, I am vying for the position of Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government to consolidate and advance the remarkable developmental achievements recorded under the leadership of the present council chairman,” he said.
Oladebo Simple showered encomiums on the incumbent council boss, Sikiru Sanda, popularly known as Lajue, describing him as a seasoned administrator whose leadership has brought meaningful development to the local government.
He noted that he has had the privilege of learning from the experience and leadership style of the council chairman and assured party leaders that he is prepared to sustain and expand the progress already recorded.
“Hon. Sikiru Sanda is a man of great experience who has done exceptionally well for Egbeda Local Government.
I have learnt a great deal from him and I am ready to continue the good work he has started,” he added.
The chairmanship hopeful also pledged to be a unifying figure within the political landscape of Egbeda Local Government, promising to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development if given the opportunity to serve.
Political observers note that Oladebo Simple brings considerable legislative and administrative experience to the race.
Before becoming the Vice Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Oladebo Simple represented the people of Oloode/Alakia Ward 10 as a Councilor and also serves as the Leader of the Legislative House of the Council.
During his tenure as leader, the legislative arm was widely recognized for its effective oversight and the passage of impactful bills that significantly contributed to grassroots development within the council area.
In his current role as Vice Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Political Head/Administrator of Ajorosun LCDA, Oladebo Simple has continued to demonstrate strong administrative capacity.
Under his leadership, Ajorosun LCDA has recorded notable developmental strides, a performance that has reportedly prompted calls from stakeholders and community leaders urging him to contest the Egbeda council chairmanship to sustain the developmental momentum.

Earlier before the local government declaration, Oladebo Simple had formally declared his chairmanship ambition in his political ward, Oloode/Alakia Ward 10.
In a show of strong solidarity and unity, the entire seventeen-member ward executive accompanied him to the PDP Egbeda Local Government party secretariat for the official declaration.
The ward executives described him as a worthy ambassador of the ward who has brought pride and recognition to both the community and the local government through his leadership and dedication to service.
Their presence at the declaration, they noted, was a demonstration of their unwavering support and confidence in his ability to lead Egbeda Local Government to greater heights.
As political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the Oyo State local government elections, stakeholders within the PDP and across Egbeda are expected to closely watch the unfolding developments in what promises to be an interesting contest for the council’s top seat.
