The Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan Campus has successfully celebrated its annual day, marking a significant milestone in the lives of students across the state. The event, which was attended by students from various department of the institutions, featured a lecture by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy, Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo(RAD).
In her lecture titled “Youth Inclusion in Politics: The Imperative for a Sustainable Future”, Hon. Ramata emphasized the importance of involving young people in the political process. She highlighted the need for the government to create an enabling environment that empowers young people to participate in politics and take up leadership positions.
“Politics is not just about power, it’s about serving the people and making a positive impact on their lives,” Hon. RAD said. “As young people, you have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of our state and nation. I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to get involved in politics and make a difference to bring innovative ideas and perspectives to the table.
The event also featured the commissioning of a project initiated by FOSSU, which involves the construction of a statue of the Oyo State and the union logo. The statue, which is a symbol of unity and pride, was designed by the executives.
In his address, the President of FOSSU, Comrade Atunbi Akinkunmi, expressed his gratitude to Hon. RAD for delivering a thought-provoking lecture that inspired students to get involved in politics.
“We are grateful for sharing your wealth of experience with us today,” Comr. Akinkunmi said. “We hope that her words will inspire us to take up leadership positions and make a positive impact on our communities.”
She commend the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his commitment to youth empowerment. His leadership has inspired everyone, and I’m proud to be part of his team. His willingness to listen to our ideas and perspectives has been invaluable, and we have seen tangible results from his efforts.
The FOSSU Day celebration was attended by dignitaries such as BARR. MAZI EESUOLA OLAGOKE, Sen. Sodeeq Yusuf, FSSIB Stakeholders and several others.
