New Month: ADC Governorship Candidate Adegoke Expresses Deep Concern on Persistent Captivity of Oriire Teachers and Pupils

The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State and Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, Olooye Adegboyega Toafeek Adegoke FCA, has expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of the teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the situation as heartbreaking and a painful reminder of the worsening security challenges confronting Nigeria.

In a New Month message released to mark the beginning of June 2026, Adegoke said his heart bleeds for the innocent pupils, teachers, and their families who have been subjected to untold emotional trauma since the unfortunate incident occurred. He noted that every passing day in captivity increases the suffering of the victims and their loved ones, while also deepening public anxiety about the safety of citizens across the country.

He lamented the persistent wave of insecurity ravaging different parts of Nigeria, including kidnappings, banditry, violent attacks, and other criminal activities that have continued to threaten lives and livelihoods. According to him, no nation can attain meaningful development when its people live in fear and uncertainty.

Adegoke therefore appealed to the relevant security agencies and all levels of government to intensify efforts toward securing the immediate and safe release of the abducted teachers and pupils. He stressed that governments must demonstrate stronger commitment to intelligence gathering, community policing, and proactive security measures capable of preventing similar incidents in the future.

While sympathizing with the affected families, the ADC governorship candidate encouraged them not to lose hope, assuring them that the thoughts and prayers of millions of Nigerians remain with them during this difficult period. He urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians generally to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and continue supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace and security.

As the month of June begins, Adegoke offered prayers for divine intervention, protection, and healing across Nigeria. He prayed for the safe return of all abducted persons, comfort for grieving families, wisdom for leaders, and renewed hope for citizens. He also called on political leaders to place the welfare and security of the people above all other considerations, emphasizing that safeguarding lives remains the foremost responsibility of government.

“May this new month bring freedom to those in captivity, comfort to distressed families, and lasting peace to our nation. Nigeria must overcome these challenges, and together we must work toward a safer and more prosperous future for all,” Adegoke stated.
